Church school values

Our church school values underpin everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment where children are able to flourish, be the best they can be and inspire each other.

Our worship leaders chose our 4 main values, which are then supported by other values.

PERSEVERANCE

The children know that perseverance means to keep trying when the going gets tough. The children are encouraged to have self belief in order to keep going. In worship children also have opportunities to reflect on God's persevering love.

Keeping going against all odds (Matthew 2.13-15)

Compassion

At Eastoft C of E Primary School, we think about what Jesus would do to show compassion in our communities.

We try to support national and local initiatives where we can, including the local food bank, Children in Need, and Save the Children.

We are twinned with a school in Tanzania.

Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Colossians 3 v12

There is more happiness in giving than receiving.  Acts 20: v 35

Service

Words relating to ‘servant’ and ‘service’ are central in Christian theology.  Serving God means serving others.  We encourage children to demonstrate the value of service by:

Thinking of others before themselves.

Hold doors open for other people.

Help others in the classroom.

Think about how we can serve the world and the people who live in it.

'Do to others as you would have them do to you.' (Matthew 7: 12)

Respect

Our learners know that to respect is to understand that everyone is different, created by God and that everyone should be treated with love and kindness. We teach the children about the importance of teaching others with respect, even if we do not always agree with how they behave or what they say.  We want our children to respect themselves and their own unique contribution to their homes, schools and communities. Having self-respect means being able to celebrate our gifts and talents and looking after ourselves so that we can then do the same for others.

Compassion home learning

This half term our school value is Compassion; we have done some great work on this in worship time.

Please use the document to discuss and explore the value at home.

If you do any work on it, then I would love to see it on dojo.

Thanks Mrs Turnbull
